Default Code 0171 / 0174

both banks running lean. See if maybe some Z06 specific issues could help me with this thread.

Very common with a cold-air intake, and it's almost never an actual issue.

Suggest you clear the codes, then take the car for a drive, do some WOT, and see if they reapper by the end of the drive. Check for codes again when you park it and post the results.

I think after much reading this sounds like my problem.

Try a search, this was around a while ago but as I remember it the screenless MAF was throwing lean codes at low engine speed/idle. It is likely a calibration issue that can be tuned out by a competent tuner. The Donaldson actually may be part of the problem. Have you tried removing it to see if the issue goes away? Here's some links:

TY FOR YOUR ADVICE!!!! Over the last 3 weeks, it has been reset at least 12 times..........lol
I really enjoyed reading your launch techs. I am no stranger to a track (see sig) and I live a mile above sea level were a good running/good driver in a Z with exhaust and line lock can only get a 13.4 (and the fastest "near stock" 'vette I have ever seen here). But all my launching has been with AWD......... hehehhehe 1.6 60's with street tires at only 235mm wide. Can't wait to see just how deep or close to the 13's I can get with this car.
TY again.......... gotta love CF

PS with your C6Z being totally stock.......... did they make you put in a roll cage? NHRA rules 11.49 or faster need one...........but it's stock???????........lol, just wondering

Had the same problems when I installed my blackwing, Im sure you see that alot of others have had similar experiences with various CAI's

After I got my tune I have not gotten a SES light or codes, if you plan any future modifications I would wait to tune until that point in order to save a few $$

Don't intend to put a cage in my DD. But absence of the cage generally gets me booted after a few passes. Track rentals are the venue for more than a few passes.

I am very scared of getting a "TUNE" for the simple fact that I just got it, OWE A HELLA lot on it, I am a broke "JOE" as in GI.......... and I need to rely on the extended warrenty I got to cover anything, just in case. I sure would never be able to afford to fix anything. So for now, keeping only what it came with, maybe some years down the road I will finish the exhause LG long tubes w/high flow's and X pipe and tune. BUT OMGooodness, THAT'S 3k itself!!!!

THX

C5 Z06's run lean from the factory especially the 2004's according to what I've read. When a cold air package or increased air package is installed it causes the sensors to trigger these codes.

Good info......... But not really what is going on. OK, so the car runs lean from the factory, the CODES don't come up until the computer adds 24% (I think it is)....... from where it is factory. Adding a CAI "SHOULD" not hinder the air/fuel curve, the maf sees more air, adds more fuel, that is how it's supposed to work, and trust me, the MAF can read a lot of air. The problem is the screenless MAF's are too inaccurate air is getting by unmetered (and with a CAI it only adds to that problem)........ therefore the O2's see leaner codes which makes the computer add fuel......... etc etc. So when you say they run lean it sounds like your almost saying the same thing, the car is actually running leaner then it's "supposed to", but still under the 24% so the codes DON'T come on and the extra air that gets by the MAF from adding a CAI is enough to take it to the 24%. And that's why a lot of tuners don't like the screenless MAF and why GM only used it for them 3 yrs on the Z and never again.

Could you please elaborate on your new screened MAF. Did you add a screen? Get a replacement from the dealer? Etc.
Thanks

Sorry, factory screened MAF, which is basicly any other C5/C6 MAF. The only 'vette's as far as my research went that had no screen was the 02-04Z every other one was screened.
