Default Interior Quality

I know this should be on the C-6 forum, but I want opinions from C-5 owners. I saw 2 Z-06's close up today at the Big E fair in Mass. For around $70g I thought the interior was not only totally boring, but really cheap looking. I have a '00 C-5 that looks better. Is it me or or did GM really miss the boat on the C-6 interiors. Unrelated, but in the same theme I recently saw a new Lincoln Zephyr that must be Ford's take on a retro of one of their interiors of the mid '70s - really cheap and awful!

I have driven a few C6's and I can comment on the leather quality compared to my C5.

The C6 has a better quality leather in my opinion...

The interior is certainly the weakest part of Corvettes..

From a leather quality it may be better but the look of the C5 interior is 100% nicer as far as I'm concerned.

if you want to keep the price down you have to "cheap" somewhere. Corvettes have never been known for the "quality" of their interiors. What "looks" better, C5 or C6, is solely up to your eyes. I like my C5 and if I liked the C6 better I have enough money to buy one, but that dosen't mean the people that do buy C6's are wrong. My opinion only means something to me, not them.

I believe over the 8 years we provided lots of feed back concerning this subject to the many GM people that we have talked with, I too was disappointed in what they considered to be improvements in the C-6.

I quess the bean counters have to be appeased somewhere and they have with the C5 seats. The rest of the interior is fine with me. If you look at most (all) the new cars these days they all look cheap.
I quess if you REALLY want a first class interior buy a Bently or a Rolls.

Default Now I Am Confused

The C5,s interior being of superior quality to the C6. What drove me and so many others to go to Vette Essentials and Down South Vettes for a change interiors on our C5,s ? Color scheme , superior quality of leather, what ? Because all of the above are true.
Did we all miss the boat not being satisfied with what we had and were just greedy ?
And how many of you that have registered your indignations about the C6 own them and have had time to compare each side by side daily usage.
Or is this a case of a few compared to thousands of C6 owners who enjoy their C6,s and are satisfied with the interiors quality.
i,m not looking for flames, but pose legitimate questions.
I personally have not found fault with my C6 but could be still blinded by new car smell.

keep it out of the sun and the quality ain't so bad...

use sun visors on windshield and passenger window (depending on what time of day it is)... tint the rear and your interior won't lose its luster

The leather isn't so bad really as far as painted cardboard goes, its the use of horribly cheap and poorly surfaced plastics. Many economy box cars have much higher quality materials and better fit and finish inside than my C5 does, so I really think we can stop with the excuses about GM cutting corners. We also know that GM can make a decent interior, they just didn't, for various reasons. I'm sure cost comes into the picture, but I would lay odds that they saved more in research and design time than actual material costs. They just didn't use much common sense or take alot of time to figure out how to spend whatever their budget was in the best possible way. There is really no excuse for having two surfaces of plastic touching each other, nor is there any reason to have such huge and poor grain detail work on the plastic they did use.

You don't need daily use for an interior. I wasn't focusing on the leather, but the interior in general. What's your problem, who's being indignant, I was just asking for others opinions - posititive or negative. Some of you get up in arms for really stupid things.

The nice thing about the new Z06 is you get Supercar performance for a fraction of the price of equally performing cars. Compared to the new Supercar Porsche, you can get the Z06, totally replace the interior, and still have enough left over to get just about anything you want . If the interior is important to you, fix it. Why dwell on the negatives when there are so many positives to get excited about? Compared to an equally performing Ferrari, you can get the Z06, replace the interior and get a Condo in florida.
