Default Plastic Gas Pedal?

Anyone have an idea as to why GM sprung for the aluminum clutch and brake pedal but opted for a cheap plastic gas pedal?

If they thought it would work---GM would have installed plastic brake and clutch pedals as well...

I used to think it was crappy, but on a hot summer day the clutch and the brake pedals get so hot they're almost unbearable to touch if you're driving bearfoot, like after going to the beach.

LOL, except driving barefoot is illegal in all states but Alabama, Ohio, and Cali.

To match the cheap vinyl and plastic interior, of course!

WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!!

Everyone and their "plastic pedal judgement" can stop right here!

I wouldn't have it any other way! The plastic pedal is perfect for barefoot driving, and especially long road trips. Anything else would be a step DOWN in mechanical function.

Aluminum is GREAT for those pedals that take the heavy foot application to operate, but NOT the gas, which only takes a light touch.

case dismissed.

If you think they are cheap junk then don't buy it. Even better, buy a Mopar then you can see what cheap REALLY is.

In some states I believe it is 'illegal' to have sex in any position other than missionary. So I wouldn't worry to much about getting a citation for driving barefoot (which I do in the vette almost 100% of the time), I would just chock that up as another invasive, but unenforceable law.

They might not write you up a citation, but get into an accident barefoot and when the 2nd party calls you on it. Say by by to your low premiums.

Been there done that (girl friend would drive barefoot when wearing high heals).

Not that I agree... just a forewarning.

I hear you, and I say that is what attorneys are for, but the sandals that I wear when I get out of the car are right behind my heels. It would actually be a safety hazard to wear the sandals while driving, instead of driving barefoot.

Definetly a safety hazard.

But so is keeping your sandals by your heels, ever get anything caught behind your brake pedal?

If you think the interior is up to the level of quality one would expect for a $50K car, you need to get out more.
