I removed my pass visor to install Home Link, which is great. But I can't get the main arm of the visor to lock back into positioin. This goes up into the windshield surround. It has a slot that I've tried turning, but no dice. It appears to go in OK but comes out when you swing the visor toward the side window.
After pushing the bezel up into its position, the bezel must be rotated CLOCKWISE. To do so: swing the visor out towards the window. Then, with a screwdriver in the bezel slot, swing the visor back to its normal position. The visor/screwdriver combination will act like a spanner wrench and rotate the bezel.
Can anyone help with the visor removal instructions? In my 04, the bezel does not turn (neither passenger nor driver side). It isn't supposed to require force so I must be doing something wrong. It looks exactly like what is pictured, but the plastic slot will crack before the bezel will turn. Any ideas?
Try a more beefy screwdriver. I tried it with a small screwdriver and it did not turn. Once I used a bigger screwdriver (one of those 4-way red handle ones from True Value), it worked well. Used the small regular blade.
You don't need a screwdriver to install the sunvisor, just to remove it. There is an arrow on top of the plastic part that pushes back up into the bezel. It is a small arrow that can be seen when you hold the sunvisor in your hands and look down at it. Align the arrow so that it is parallel to the sunvisor main arm. Insert the sunvisor into the bezel with the sunvisor not quite parallel with the side window. While holding the sunvisor snug into the bezel, with your other hand, turn the sunvisor back towards parallel with the windshield. Most of the time when you get the sunvisor back close to the clip that holds the sunvisor up towards the rearview mirror, you have to pull the visor down just enough to go under the clip and keep going toward the windshield. You will know when it seats. You do not have to use alot of force in either holding the sunvisor up into the bezel or when you turn it back towards the windshield. Good luck and just have some patience, it might take a couple of tries. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the suggestions. In the end, I got it to come out by pulling down on the visor at the same time as trying to turn it. I had been applying a great deal of force without success, but after wiggling and ultimately pulling down while turning it came out.
