Default 427 C5?

I was out driving today and i saw a really nice c5 but it looked different than normal. It had a rounded hood as if to make room for a supercharger. Then when they pulled beside me I checked to see if it was a z06 or what (which it wasn't) then i saw something below the door that i thought said 427 and a name. We both took off and had a really close race but unfortunatley i didnt get to see what was done to it. Im sure it was not a stock c5 but Im not sure what it was. I was wondring if some tuner like Ligenfelter puts 427s in c5s or what. Anyone?

Hmmmm

Anything like this:

This is the 427 LPE (21st Century MC in Carrolltoin, TX).

Best around!

And if you hung with him/her, they wern't 'on it' - developes more than 600HP (529RWHP).

BTW - racing (street type) is really looked down on this Forum. Probably will get your thread locked.

I believe that was it...like i said i didnt get a great look at it but from the glance i took it looked a lot like that. It wasnt really a street race, we just went through a couple of gears. They were definitley on it...but im sure they would have demolished me in the higher gears. Dont forget lt1s have tons of torque and rx7s are very light weight.

yes, could be any one of the Corvette tuners. all depends on who the owner wants to go and give their money too...
My C5R 427 was orignally a MTI Z07, which is a package that MTI (houston, TX) offers. since their craptastic build, i have just gotten the motor re-built by DRM. and i will be replacing the MTI logos with DRM ones...

the possibilty of RX7 and LT1 keeping up with a 427ci Vette is kinda unlikely... unless of course you have nitrous and were slamming gears. im guessing both of u guys were just having a lil fun right! no harm in that! BTW..congrats on puttin an LT1 in a RX7, thats tough, but you must have one bad *** car!

yes exactly we were just having fun...not street racing. Interpret it how you will but it was all in good fun and not dangerous at all. I dont have N02...yet. I just got the kit this week but its not installed yet. Its also not a stock lt1. Take in mind we only went through 2 and a half gears...i gaurentee that by 3rd or 4th he would have pulled hard on me cause the lt1 doesnt have as much up top. But trust me, for the first 3 gears it can hang with just about anything. Thanks for the props man but i cant take all the credit. I planned on doing the swap myself but then found one already done that i couldnt pass up and took the easy way out.

That is a very quick car. I think it's over 500rwhp though a stalled A4.

I know for a fact that's it one of the only C5's I know of that will consistently cut a 1.3x 60' time.

Most of the top tuners have 427 logos for the car. Mine resemble the old Z06 logo but say 427 C5R

LT1 RX7 is pretty awesome - you may hang with 'just about anything' but a C5R isn't 'just about anything'

If Said 427 C5 is 3500lbs and makes 600bhp thats 5.83:1 lbs/hp
Whats an LT1 RX7? 2500lbs and modified making 400bhp thats 6.25:1 lbs/hp

And I'm calculating generously in your favor. Good fun w/ the vette, and it's cool that you saw a 427 C5, but please don't mistake that if he did put the hammer down, it wouldn't have taken 3rd gear for him to pull you...

Regardles... that 5.83:1 lbs/hp ratio makes me want a 427!!! LOL

well, you could use cheap heads, a baby cam and keep the OEM intake/exhaust on it, but what's the point in that
