Default How would you have it???

I'm an F-Body guy. I'm a Corvette guy (in spirit only for the first 27 years) now, and mostly, I'm a car guy. Love to tinker, mod, ect. So I was thinking on the way to work today.

What if........

What if you were back in a position and had a choice. Hypothetically, you're given the opportunity for one of the two following what would you do??

A: An LS1 equipped F-Body, with the freedom to mod as you see fit.

B: A C5 ZO6, but it must forever remain bone stock down to the paper filter.

I found myself pondering that and really can't make up my mind. Part of me would want the Vette, but the other part would want the F-Body for the ability to tinker, experiment, and make it go faster. I think I'd actually choose the F-Body in that situation. How about you?

I'm an F-body guy at heart; 3 WS6's and 1 Firebird Formula were the first 4 cars I owned.. Love 'em to death.

Now that I have the Z, I miss the F-bods, but I don't look back for a second. BUT, the Z IS lightly modded.. Ya can't just leave it stock!

Z06 Totally. Modded F bodies, to me, are becoming like Mustangs. You know what I mean?

This IS a forum of Corvette lovers, so would you really expect very many folks to vote for the F Body?

Had a Trans Am and it was my baby and had a lot done to her. Although, it to me was a high school car and wanted something more mature with stock 415hp. You wont keep the z06 stock for long...

Well, for me it would be a very tough choice, as I've always loved Corvettes, but I've also never owned a vehicle that I haven't modded in one way or another.

Well, I figure that the larger part of the Corvette guys who are into modding/performance stuff were probably an F-Body owner at one time, I thought it would be interesting to see what the answers came back as with two given answers that couldn't be strayed from.

Personally, the choice left to me.......I'd have to take the F-body. I'd try to make a Yugo faster if it's all I had.

Its just too hard to deny the urge... I told myself when I sold my f-body that the Z would stay just about stock. Well, its only been 6 months, and the Z already has a few cosmetics mods done, LT Headers, Short Throw Shifter, Borla Stingers in about 2 weeks, Honker by the end of the year hopefully...

Embrace it

no. care to explain? thats like me saying stock C5s are like mustangs these days

i would prefer the F-body. in my opinion having the ability to mod or customize your vehicle is the best part of owning it. i just like having something different, something i wont see next to me driving down the highway

Modding is personalizing you car. Making it different, and not a dime a dozen (nothing against people who don't mod, not at all), tailoring it to yourself...
My F-Body, when sold:

My 600RR, when sold:

Both were bought brand-new, and through time, modded to my liking.

Having also had both I still vote for the vette. Yes, maybe with a seriously modified suspension an f-body might be close, but still hard to get an f-body to feel and handle as well as a corvette. The only advantage I see for an f-body is if you needed storage space for rear seats and if you liked/needed a solid rear axle. Every other advantage is in the vette's favor.

I bought a Z28 when they first came out in '93. Nice car, but definitely not a Vette. I'll stay with Vettes thank you.

A month ago went from a lightly modded Formula Firebird to my '02 Z06. I have been equating the F-Body to an ex-wife - run down, tired, bulky, and not the beautiful jewel she was 8 years ago. I have a new love, and she is getting modded until everything is just the way I like it - now if I could do that with my G/F...

Could be a tough choice, but no doubt that I would take the Z06. Awesome right out of the box.
