Valve stem question?
I have a '98 C5. Does anyone know if a regular valve stem (innards) can be used to replace a possible defective one on the Corvette. I have had a very slow air leak with the old and now new tire. I loose about 5 lbs of air in about two months, and the alarm kicks in (low air, LR). Tire dealer wants to replace the entire valve unit for $70.00. I'm not sure this is necessary.
Thanks
Chuck

The pressure sensor IS the valve stem. The entire unit must be replaced, it's all in one.
You could possibly fix a leak around the valve with an "O" ring

Thank's, I appreciate your response. I didn't know that. I'll try the O ring fix first.

The mechanicals in the valve stem ARE the same as any valve stem. If you are refering to the scchever (sp) valve inards.
