I think I'm paying the price for waiting until the weekend to check out a oddity in my 2000 c5. I came out of work tonight, used the keyless and didn't see the lights flash, got in and everything was dead. It had only been about 2 hours since I last drove it for a half hour or so, and I'm suspecting a fuse or something based on the following, any ideas?
1. We tried jumping, no luck except for a brief few seconds when everything came back on fine, just couldn't start the car in time before it died again.
2. Batterys only a year or so old, and nothing that I can find was left on in the car, and like I said everything litterally came back on including the alarm for about 4 seconds, before going out again a few seconds later.
3. The fact the door was unlocked makes me think it never locked when I left the car last, something jarred loose when the door closed?
4. I started seeing the dreaded headlight gear problem about 2 weeks ago and just got the gear in last night from franker's site, but haven't touched anything...just wondering if the grinding could contribute to a electrical issue.
5. Finally and most strange, about 2 days ago the radio/cd player stopped all functionality except when I press recall the time comes up, and seems to stay correct. This and the headlight were the only two issues before today, and I planned on tackling them both this weekend, figuring neither were too serious for a few days
As of now I'm going to drive the backup tomorrow, but don't want to leave the vette out too long, so I may have to tow it to the dealership, and I'm dreading coming out a grand lighter in the pockets. Any ideas on the cause/workarounds to get it to the dealership?

Sorry to hear of your problems, sounds like a direct short somewhere, I wouldn't know where to start. Battery may not be charging completly if your terms. are dirty. Another thing to check, (sounds weird) Iv'e seen a few posts about the lites on the vanity mirrors not turning off when the visors are in up position. (mercury switches). Good Luck!
so many people experience problems with the battery. Many state the car was fine, stopped for gas and then nothing. As a matter of fact up at WGI last week one of the guys in the group moved his car, stopped it and then went to restart it and nothing. Changed the battery and everything is fine now.
I would start there even if you think the battery is good. at least that is something that you can eliminate if it doesn't correct the problem.

Certainly have the battery checked out - sometimes even the new ones fail quickly. If it is not that, then you can go further and check the charging system and if needed more of the electrical system.
Got back over there this morning, started right up, brought it to the dealer, they claim nothing wrong other than corrosion on the battery and the radio was working when it started up this morning, which they claim could have stopped working due to the battery angle...should be about no charge...whew!! Thanks for the help guys, it really helped eliminate some stress this morning!!
