Default Vette shoppin time!

Since I just sold my TA, I think I'm gonna step up to a vette now. I've read quite a few posts here on common problems and things to look for when shopping. If there's anymore post it up!
  • Oil pressure gauge
  • Fuel gauge
  • Steering column lock fix
  • Seat movement
  • Diff seal
  • Battery acid deal
I feel like there's another one I can't remember... Are there any certain places to look for leaks? Since I'll be getting an auto is there anything specific to them to look for?
Thanks.

You've pretty much covered the more common problems. Good luck finding your car.

I just had the diff leak on driver's side fixed... def check for that.

I have also had:
A/C leak into passenger footwell.... This can be nasty if it's not caught relatively quickly as the electronics in the footwell have to be thoroughly dried out, I got lucky.

Driver's side power door lock/unlock intermittently not work

I would also see if there are any codes stored in the Driver Info Console... instructions and codes here http://www.corvettedoctor.com/Code_Main.html

Good luck, lots of well cared for used vettes out there!

If your going to get an auto make sure your get the gear ratio that you want. I cant remember off the top of my head what the option are but there are at least two of them. I'm sure somebody will chime in with the optional ratios.

Thanks.

Good call on the gear ratio, wasn't an issue on my 6 speed cars... And I found the rpo's in the link G92 = 3.15, GU2 = 2.73 at least for 2000.

Oh, when reading the DTC's on the DIC does it show just the code number, or does it give the long code name?

add the headlight motor problem to your list. It's usually caused by a worn "plastic" gear. Happened to me at 14K miles.

You didn't mention a year or $ in your first post, but said something about a 2000 in your next. My advice would be try to find a 2002 or newer that you like. Especially now, there are some great deals out there.

02's are just on the outer fringe of my spending area, so I haven't found many. Mainly 99-01's.
