Default Thru the firewall?????

Can anyone tell me the easiest way to get a wire through the firewall in my 99 vert? I am going to install a Gentex mirror with the outside temp. sensor which needs to go thru the firewall and mounted behind the front bumper.

I believe I read a post about using the access hole behind the computer under the battery. Someone else I'm sure will chime in.

Pull out the battery and there's a wire bundle that goes through the firewall just behind the tray. Its wrapped in tape so you'll need to unravel that. Open the access panel to the fuse box area in the footwell. Poke your wire through from the engine side through the bundle with a wire coat hanger and you'll eventually see it emerge.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. When I remove the battery, will anything other than the radio presets and clock need to be reset?

From the C5 Audio FAQs (Corvette General Topics/Audio-Electronics)

How do i run a power wire through the firewall? from forum member 'vate'
the power cable will slide right alongside the main harness where it passes through the firewall.

First remove the battery. You will see a bundle of wires going through a flexible rubber grommet in the firewall.

Remove the electrical tape around these wires.

Your power cable should be plenty stiff to push the wire through, provided you spray it with some WD-40 first.

Once you get it through, go inside the car, under the passenger side footwell, and find the wire. A bright color like the red I used works well.

This is exactly what I did for my line lock and raptor shift light. Worked very well.
