What is the term for the baseboard that runs under the door. The bottom piece that curves under the car and bolts at fender etc. I have a HUGE scratch in it and no idea how it got there... don't know that it can be repaired and was thinking of buying a new piece from the dealer.
It sounds like the rocker panel. This is not very expensive to purchase but requires 6 hrs book labor to install and bond. Both sides including paint was $2037.00. I would try and repair the scratch. A good body shop can do wonders. If anyone has ever had the forward attach area broken off Ecklers sells this repair kit for $40 dollars and it works perfect.Good luck.
Will do. After settling down a little (I was pretty upset)I'm thinking I'll sand/bondo it then take it in and have the whole car repainted this winter. After 7 years she's due for some fresh paint.
I cracked the part where it mates up on the other side and have to replace the fender as I chipped a piece the size of a quarter out....just really horrible luck lately.
You might want to consider the frame savers and rocker rails to solve the problem for the future. Forum Vendor A&A Corvette sells them. Run down to the bottom of the link.
