Default General Tire Exclaim UHP

Anyone try these tires from Tirerack.com?
Great ratings and cheapest price.

Kinda suspicious, so I'm asking on the forum.
Thanks

Glad you asked. I just put a set of these on the front replacing some Kumho MX's that were way past due. Discount matched the tire rack price. The Generals are not nearly as confidence inspiring in the corners. On turn in you can definitely notice the sidewall flex. With the Kumho's I did not feel any at all, they felt like part of the wheel and I just took it for granted. I have been running the Kumho's for a few years now and have been happy but the Generals were so cheap I cound not resist trying them. The reviews said that they are a little swimmy but I did not pay attention, I thought they were referring to larger profile sizes. They are not bad enough that I would take them back to Discount but I would rather have the Kumhos. I think you will be dissappointed. You can see my review on tire rack submitted on 9/18/06. It is the cheapest Z+ rated tire for a reason I guess.

We have them on our 99 Celica (turbo motor swap, 250HP/260 TQ to the ground) and they're pretty good. Great dry traction, wet traction is great, but I'm not overly confident hitting corners with them. I haven't pushed them to a limit yet, but even with the short 35 sidewall (215 width for reference) I can feel it flex and roll pretty decently.
