This past weekend I drove from Atlanta, GA to Bowling Green, KY to visit the Corvette Museum. I then drove to Paducah, KY to visit my sister. I did this in my stock 2002, driving at speed limits plus, usually 5-10 miles over posted. During the trip I encountered rain, bad traffic, Atlanta, Nashville, some stop and go traffic, etc. When I filled up the car to leave Atlanta I reset the average fuel mileage, and at the end of the trip the average was 29.9 mpg. Is this unusual, or do others with stock cars get about the same. I also changed the oil the evening before I left. Thanks for your response.

I have a black MN6 coupe, and on trips with my wife, flat interstate at about 85mph I'm turning about 1800 rpm and get between 28-31 mpg. Sixth gear is great for long cruises and good mileage. Zuti
That is very typical highway mileage for a Corvette. In fact, my Corvette does better on the highway, at faster speeds, than my wife's six-cylinder Infiniti.
Your mpg is very typical. I have gotten as good as 32.4 traveling across Wyo from Denver to Boise. Usually my highway mileage is in the upper twenties. City has been as low a 15, but that was just after I installed the Borla's. I think I like the sound too much.

Ain't it awesome? Who would have thought you'd get that kind of fuel consumption. I had about the same numbers when I went to BG last year.

Normal. Ain't it great having a Vette and an econo car all in one package?
I drove my 2004 6 speed coupe 2,700 miles in June. My wife and I went to Florida. 500 miles of it was around town, stop and go driving. Total calculated mpg, not computer mileage, was 27.5 mpg. Gotta love having a high performance economy car.
I drove to Nashville and back to Chattanooga on Saturday with the top out and the windows down. I got almost 31 mpg. It seemed to do better doing 80 with the cruise off than when I was doing 74 with the cruise on. Mine is all stock except for a Halltech stinger air cleaner. People can't believe I got over 30 in a vette! Great car!
My 00 vert seems to get better milage with the top UP than with it down. Up I average 30 plus, down, arround 28.5/29.
I keep telling my wife I bought an economy car........ she won't accept that.............
ZOOOM
recent trip from phoenix to LA I got about 27 with very spirited driving... so it seems to be normal for distance driving. However; local driving is another story (at least for me)
The two long roadtrips I've done were through different countryside.
On a trip to Tahoe I managed 28 mpg on mainly flat roads. On the trip down the PCH through the Sierra Nevadas it was only about 26 mpg overall but through some serious mountains. Still great for a big V8.
