My wife and I share our 03 Z06 and she says do whatever you want but if its no longer fun around town lets get a fourth car which I do not want to do. I have some TPIS headers in the garage and may try them as an experiment or I may just do a cam. After headers can you get the interior sound level back to the same as a stock car.

I would appreciate any feedback.
Hi Mr. Max,
I love my current set up (see Sig). It's loud. It annoys my wife. It's damn near perfect.
American Racing Headers have a real nice sound to them your wife will enjoy and there loud when you get on it which you will enjoy..... more importantly they make more HP than many others out there.
and would do them again in a heartbeat; but the metal matrix cats do hang a little lower and have scratched speedbumps that the OEM cats cleared (my car is lowered all the way on the factory bolts) and I do get a slight drone noise (that I didn't have with the OEM setup) in the car between 1500 and 2000 rpms under certain loads.
The fix for the drone...keep it above 2000rpms (the new cam likes that too )!!!
headers + insulation mod to reduce interior noise by adding some insulation you should be able to counter the additional noise, i think someone is selling a DYI kit that looks pretty simple to do.
im going to be running stock manifolds on my built LS2 403 for a little bit, still trying to decide on headers. once i add them ill probably do the insulation kit to reduce some noise.
I've got an '04 Z with the 1 3/4 Kooks headers and couldn't imagine the car without them.
Also have the small matrix cats. The only time I hear a drone, is when I'm in 6th gear going under 65 and give it gas. All other gears no drone whatsoever. Even 6th gear over 65 is ok.
I've got the stock Ti mufflers and the sound is better with headers, not necessarily louder. I guess that's because I don't have the "H" pipe anymore. Loved the "H" pipe burble.

I've been running my LG Long Tubes, no cats and Borla Stingers for 2 years now and it is very loud, I also have a good bit of exhaust smell when I stop. I plan on adding hi-flow cats soon, and maybe even a swap back to the TI exhaust to quiet things down a bit (I also have the front and back pre-cut insulation kit installed, along with some Dynamat extreme in the trunk and one of Andy's partitions). The problem is, the car sounds soooooo good I almost don't want to change anything, but it is really getting a bit too much for a daily driver. Everyone loves the way the car sounds when I drive by, but it looks like this set-up would definitely be too much for your situation. Hope that helps
You definitely get more interior noise coming up from the footwell area. I've driven my car back to back witha car with LGMs and cats, and the differnece was definitely noticeable. As to whether or not that is unacceptable is a matter of personal preference. My buddies wife drives his car with this setup.
