Her license/ registration/ and tag are now in Georgia and the ticket is Issued in SC from a state trooper.
ANY chance that the points never go on her record in GA?.....how do state highway depts share info?

#2 Yes, most likely, she will get points on/off her license (some states count down, not up). Bad thing either way.
Tell her to examine the back of the ticket carefully. Usually beyond the option A) not guilty, go to court, hope for the best B) pay the fine and get the points sometimes there is an option C) plead guilty with an explaination (ie: I thought, blah blah blah, I'm a dumb girl, please don't give me points, I'll pay the fine, here is my money) where they will waive the points but you pay the fine.

Ephedranator - this is in noway pointed at you ... it is just this type post is out here weekly...
Do you think in the KIA Forum someone is saying "was doing 75 mph in a 55... thought it was a 65... then the Cop hassled me about no front plate and the inspection sticker that was expired last month... thought I had a grace period on the sticker"
Come on... we all drive great cars, like to drive them hard (?) - I kow I do - so we need to "man up" (sorry ladies ... just can not think of a PC term to include ya... I know you are there with us) and take the ticket. If you don't want a ticket drive the speed limit. I once got into trouble with my Department because on the back of my business card I had "Do you want to beat a ticket? Then buckle up and slow down" The Department did not like it much... but it was the truth.
If you get stopped and the Officer asks "may I search your vehicle" you have the right to say "yes or no". But don't say yes, have the Officer find something you should not have and then complain that the Officer hassled you. Say "no" and exercise your rights. But the best advise once again "don't do anything to bring the attention of the Cops to YOU"
Before someone pops off and says "but you are exempt because your a Cop" trust me... the new Gen X officers write a lot of officers. In the last month, 2 of my officers have received tickets for speeding.
The best advise I can give anyone is "take it to court". Chances are you can take defensive driving unless it is your 20th ticket or at least the amount will be reduced. As for points, we don't have them here I guess but I guess those are on the table to bargain with also.

Ok I feel better

Do state highway departments share information, and if so, how is the system set up specifically in this case: Georgia and South Carolina.
That was my question, but my friend called me upset, so I included that as a frame of reference, that "in the end" doesnt matter.
I TOLD HER TO PAY THE FINE and hope the violation never hits her insurance. Now if it was me, I would have my lawyer take it to court and have it dropped...........Just kidding
but it works.
As for your question about points and how states share that kind of information. Well, there's this thing called the Internet, perhaps you've heard of it. On the Internet are things called search engines. The reason I mention it, seriously, is that none of these personal anecdotes actually answer your question. However, 5 minutes of research will and you'll learn a lot more that will stand you in good stead in the future.
