Default Silly question about "static cling" blackouts

I understand that to install "static cling" blackouts, all you do is moisten them and the taillite, then stick them on.

Ok, fine.....so what happens when it rains really hard, or you are washing the vette off? Do they just fall off when they get wet again?

What holds them on?

Perhaps the static?

J/K seems like a good question to me...

Default static cling

Save your money-they last about as long as it takes to put them on. I lost two the same day I installed them, as have many others here.

Never heard anything good about the static cling blackouts... always bad reports about them not sticking and falling off...

Yeah, that's about what I thought about them too.....but I had to at least check it out.

Glad I did, too.

So what is recommended for blacking out the taillites and is considered the best source?

Bought my tail light blackouts and rear side marker blackouts from Richard @ Corvette Enhancements.
These are some of the best quality you will find.

Never say never. I've had my static cling blackouts on for nearly two years now. If you put them on correctly they don't come off in the rain and don't come off when you wash your car. I have been very happy with them and at $15 they are an excellent alternative to the plastic ones. Paying $100 for the plastic ones was too risky in the event the cops decided to make me remove them. Check the laws in your state first.

This product is superior to covers in every way. More $$$ but you will be a lot happier with the look.

I find that if you spray the underside of the static cling with a soapy water mixture first it stays on better after they dry. Try using baby shampoo in the water. I even used 409 once and it worked.

I'm no expert but I had the static cling door handle guards on my c4 for a number of years, through countless washes and waxes, and maybe 30M and never lost one.

Just ordered a set from Ecklers. For $20, I figured it was worth a shot.

I'll get some better pics when the car is clean, but this should give you an idea. I'm not totally thrilled with them, but like I said, for the price, why not?
