You know I have got used to almost everytime I pass a vette that there is a wave, not so driving a cobra. I am driving a 04 cobra as a demo, for the last 4 days almost everytime I pass another mustang, gt or cobra I get reved at, this is so annoying! Earlier today I was making a left turn and this kid in a cobra pulled out going right, of course he had to lay into it laying down black marks, looking cool but he did not see the cop 2 cars back from me, he was too busy making sure he impressed me with his driving, needless to say the cop made a u turn and made his day I'm sure. It was so bad tonight while driving on I270 another cobra going the other direction at 75mph reved so hard it hit the rev limiter, even my other half ask what the hell that was about! She really did not believe me until it happened 2 more times in the next 15 minutes. What really surprised me is that the guys driving were not all kids, some were well into their 30's. I guess I just do not understand the fun in that anymore, especially when I am on a dealer tag....you know it isn't mine! It is times like this that I really like my z. Thanks for listening!
I think most of the people doing the revving in any car, are probably the younger owners. Most of the Saleen owners are like vette owners and will give the thumbs up or wave.
My windows are tinted too and people can still see a wave or thumbs up when my hands are on the wheel. Nothing wrong with acknowledging someone else's ride especially when tastefully done or extra clean.
I wave and get waved at, but I haven't been asked to the rainbow room yet. My version of the wave though is just a head nod or a quick "victory" hand sign with my hand still on the steering wheel. I am pretty damn sure most vette owners, even around here in the bay area don't play on the other team. We're not driving VW Jettas or Beetles.
I feel it's a pretty cool camaraderie that few other car brands enjoy.

I wave at all Vette's but some don't wave back. No big deal, maybe they can't see me. or maybe they're just lazy. It doesn't really matter. I also have a replica (yeah a kit I built) 65 Cobra and we wave and get waved back. Even the Vettes I wave at wave back. We don't and I've never had the experience of the reving except when I'm in the Cobra. It doesn't matter what kind of car it is, sedan, sports car, station wagon, truck, etc. They just want me to rev back. Well, I don't, but I do get a big smile on my face because I think it's real lame.
I sold my 03 Mach 1 to get my Z06. I really loved the Stang and it was the best car I had owned before the Vette. What got old fast was that EVERY ricer and junior hot rod had to come up and try to race me. And then you got the comments that it wasnt a " real " GT or that the shaker was fake. With the Vette I dont get any of that. In fact people assume it is much faster than it really is. Did you know that Vettes cost 200 grand or that they have 1000 hp..
Insert 'Mustang' with any car geared towards young people. I've owned several Mustangs in the past and I'd get revved at by anyone and anything. I loved it when the ricers would do it because I've rev hard back and make them feel like an idiot. Mustangs DO have the best sounding exhaust and they like to show it off.
thats funny this gets brought up, I was in my silver Z about a month ago, and a black Z with some CCW's revs on me then lights the tires because I didnt want to play. Its funny I'm 20 and he had to be in his 30's and I'm the mature one
While Corvettes can be pretty quiet in stock form, get on 'em and they roar. Put a Vette specific system on them and they ROCK!
.
Ahem, yes.
You just proved to everyone that you've never owned or driven one, so you can't comment. I'm sure you're a GM fanboy and have a neck thats too red to understand this. Try to be open minded like everyone else hear and call a spade a spade. This fact has been known for years. We are not talking about loudness of a stock system, I'm mostly talking about aftermarket. LSX have NEVER been known for exhaust sound. The best sounding street car I've heard was my 1995 Mustang GT with the 5.0. It was slow with only 210rwhp, but it sounded GREAT. My 2001 GT sounded pretty good, but not like the old 5.0. I now have a Z06 and it sounds like a motorboat at idle and crusing speeds. However, at WOT, its like a racecar.
The best sounding Vette I've heard had a very restrictive 2-chamber Flowmaster catback and a off-road H-pipe. It was better than most, but still doesn't compare.

This is my only complaint about my Z. I changed out the H pipe to an X which helped some. With the H pipe it sounds like a boat exhaust burbling in the water.
My 95 5.0L has a much cleaner sound at idle and cruise.
I have owned many Mustangs over the years and still have an 89 Saleen convertible. You will have a hard time finding an American car that sounds better than a 87-95 5.0 Mustang (with flowmaster’s or equivalent) or 96+ mod motor 4.6L Mustang with (Bassani X-pipe and after cat) exhaust system
i love the sound of my 02 z with stock ti exhaust but i also appreciate the sound of the small block ford. i think its the firing order that gives it that special resonance especially with a set of flowmasters.
hard to beat the sound of the big block chevy too. come to think of it, i like the sound of most any v8
