Default is 91 octane OK?

i have driven all over this town, checked every gas station and NOBODY carries anything higher than 91. The best i have found is Shell V-Power 91, is that good enough or am i screwed?

Following quote from the 2002 Corvette Owner's Manual, Section 6, Service and Appearance > Fuel:

Gasoline Octane

Use premium unleaded gasoline with a posted octane of 91 or higher for best performance. You may also use middle grade or regular unleaded gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher, but your vehicle’s acceleration may be slightly reduced. If the octane is less than 87, you may get a heavy knocking noise when you drive. If it is bad enough, it can damage your engine.

You're fine. Some don't even put 93 or 91 is their cars.

I've only used Chevron 91 Octane in mine, and it's never pinged once!
93 is not available in Southern California.

Here's a link to an electronic version of the 2002 Corvette Owner's Manual in .pdf format that you can either save to your favorites or "right click" and save to your computer's hard drive:

, as it's the best that Chevron has here and which we've also used without experiencing any problem(s).

91 should be OK per the manual. Also, what is your elevation. The higher that you are the less octane rating you need for reasons that I have never figured out.

I have a Procharger and I use 91. So Cal so no choice. Still managed to crank out 473 to the rear wheels.

The air is less dense the higher you are.

Here in the Rocky Mountain west, 91 is as good as it gets for pump gas.

Go for it!

At 8 to 10 cents (locally) a gallon more, I spring for 93 every time. That's only about a dollar per fillup, and to me it's worth it to not worry about pinging with a lower grade. And the better performance is cheap at $1.00.
