I just came off a 5100+ mile trip with my 99FRC...04 modded ZO6 engine tuned with and for 93 octane fuel...when i got into Phoenix(with Shell 91 octane gas), the air temp. was only 92 degrees, but i had VERY HEAVY detonation...So bad i was concerned about damage....Drove VERY easy until i could get on the Interstate and headed toward 93 land......With my tune, 91 is out of the question for me....
i have driven all over this town, checked every gas station and NOBODY carries anything higher than 91. The best i have found is Shell V-Power 91, is that good enough or am i screwed?
I know Nebraska carriers 92 and 93 octane. It is just a matter of finding it! Look for an Amoco, or Conoco.
Altitude has something to do with it. Around the Texas gulf coast, 93 is everywhere. In northern parts of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, 91 is what you see.
