i heard c6s have a shorter throw than a c5.. i have an 03 zo6 and i would like a considerably shorter throw. do aftermarket, such as b&m, for the c6's have a shorter throw than the c5s? I know a c6zo6 shifter is interchangable, but are the aftermarket c6's interchangable? also are the c6zo6 throw a lot shorter than stock? What do you guys reccommend?
Hurst C5 shifter is designed for the C5 and the C6 version for the C6.
I like the feel of the Hurst over other shifters. It is a high performance shifter, so some may not like it for the streets. But if you want a tame noise dampened short throw get the GM OEM C6 shifter, it will fit in the C5.
All the short throw shifters are pretty much the same with regards to the amount of throw.
What he said only Billet plus hurst, With the the c-6
shifter you are wasting you money on tin and pot metal,
Like your stock one, You have now, Hurst billet is 10 times better than both.
I think most aftermarket shifters reduce throw by 40-45% compared to stock C5.
I have a BPP adjustable billet shifter in my z and I love it.
They are not for everyone - the billet shifters are more "positive" (notchy lol) and will transmit more sound into the passenger cabin at high rpms than the stocker does in my experience.
Here is a pic of my BPP, stock boot, epco billiard ball **** -
And here is a BPP in a qs/mod red z with a white epco **** - something different....
I just installed the C6Z06 shifter in my 02 Z06. It's a MUCH shorter through. After driving it the other day I can say that the shifts are much more precise and a lot smoother.
