Was heading towards the expressway on ramp when the light turned yellow. I was already going around 55-60 mph when I gave it a little gas to beat the light. Next thing I knew I was losing it. I did a 360 or more towards one direction then pulled it back the other way. Think I spun that way to. Seen a poll coming at me and got out of it's path. Then I put it into a ditch, swamp. Got out of the car expecting the worst and not a scratch. Figured I would need a tow truck to get it out, but got lucky and rocked it out.
I think it's time for some new tires. Whats the best? Thinking of getting away from run-flats but I'm open for opinions. Glad I just got out of this with a lesson. Funny thing is I didn't even spill my coffee. BTW this was on dry pavement and least I think.
Good thing you didn't get hurt and second, good to know nothing serious happend to the car.
I think w/o a spare, it is too risky to not get run flats. I'm prone to flats and am always unlucky with road debre. If you're a lucky person and rarely get flats, i'm sure it would be cheaper for non-run flat tires.
I just heard on the radio that most auto fatalities caused by over correcting.

I think I over corrected because I was driving with one hand on the wheel and drinking coffee with the other. LOL I think now on I'm waking up before I drive.
People may compain about AH, but I'll bet it would have saved you. I know it may not seem like your lucky day, but al things considered it could have been a whole lot worse. You may consider a lottery ticket to pay for those new tires. Good luck, and I'm glad you and the vette are ok.
Is your car a daily driver, or do you track the car? Depends on how you use the car. The Goodyear GS D3's are good, BFGKDW2's are good tire, you do have to be careful in the rain. ..or the F1 Supercar tires that the Z comes with are okay too. Lot's of choices.

glad it wasnt so bad. you should first practice for emergency situations like how to recover if the car goes sideways. try it on an empty parking lot when its wet. just always remember keep off the brakes if the backend gets away from you.
Sounds like you were on a surface street (heading for the on ramp), if that is the case, you were probably going over the speed limit. I don't know of many surface streets that have 55-60 mph speed zones controlled by traffic lights. Then you had to accelerate even more to make the light... . Sounds like a recipe for disaster, speeding, driving with one hand while drinking coffee and having bad tires.
You were very lucky you didn't hurt someone else let alone yourself and your car. I hope this served as a wake up call.

You need to practice up some. My wife can drive, drink coffee, talk on the cell, eat a bagel, put on makeup, and slap at the kids all at the same time and she hasn't ended up in a swamp yet.

Ok, stepping off my soap box
and then make a joke about still making it thru the light sideways. Glad you and the car are ok.........and glad you don't live by me.
Don't turn off T/C. THat should be the first thing you learned.
T/C was on that's why I'm suprised it could even go around. Unless I hit it and did not notice, but I'm 99% sure that did not happen. The car died out so I'm not sure if it was on when I restarted. I guess I'm still getting use to this newer rear gears and torque converter. Tires were definitely the main reason this happened. I was not flooring it or anything just hit it to much in a minor bend in the road.

You may be confusing Traction Control with Active Handling. Your tires may have been a contributing factor but this was strictly pilot error. You should know the condition of your tires and vehicle and drive accordingly. If you are still not familiar with your new set up (gears and converter) then maybe you should take it to a track or empty parking lot and get a feel for it. You seem to be minimizing the potential disaster you experienced...
