My keyless entry on my 98 stopped working(batteries were good)...and when I took it to the dealer, they told me they reset the computer, which fixed the problem. Since I've had it back, the car locks and unlocks by itself constantly in my garage with interior lights going on and off.
Can anyone tell me how to turn off the keyless entry before I get a chance to take it back to the dealer?
I have had similar problems with my 1999 (though I need to verify the passive setting). On top of that when I do reset the keyless to work, it seems to hold for sometime (usually measured in minutes) and then all of a sudden will not work.
At least one other post mentions a potential problem with grounding (I have not had the time to debug) but I guess it could also be solar flare activity.
Good luck. I will be interested to see what comes of this...

You should have a slider switch on the fob under the buttons. Set that to off and it hopefully will stop the car locking and unlocking. If that is not the cause, then hope you find what is wrong.
In my case I know that the passive on the remote was set off, I just wasn't sure if there was anything on the DIC that could be set as well (though duh, without the remote set as well that wouldn't be causing the problem).
doccasel, sorry for hi-jacking. Back to your original question, I do not know of a way to turn off the keyless. At this point my guess it would be your car that is freaking out and has nothing to do with your remote (though you could always remove the battery from your remote to be sure). I will try and take a look when I get home to see if I can find anything in the Service Manual.
Biggieboy...I have the passive feature turned off on the dash controls too, and it's still doing it. I'm going to try taking the batteries out of the remote after I jump it.
Have had same experience where fob set to passive and the beast still works as active. Someone posted a "fix" to cut a land on the printed circuit board but I haven't tried that.
Is there really some MAGICAL way to go from ACTIVE to PASSIVE and not have the car trying to click itself to death as you go near it?
Are you supposed to do anything BESIDES move the lever on the fob?
When you change the battery, or just take the battery out, for some reason the FOB defaults to Passive = on, even when the switch is set to off. I have been able to fix this by cycling the passive switch to on while I'm next to the car, then to off again, after any battery work, and after I trained the FOB. Try it and let us know how you make out
