Default Another exhaust question

I'm not exactly sure how to phrase this question. I was looking into the Borla Stingers and BB Bullets with much success. I figured that I would put on one of the systems and see how it sounds but I was wondering---if I wanted to also put headers, cats and an x-pipe what do I look for? Does the same manufacturer (Borla) carry all the parts or can I use pieces from different manufacturer's?? How much is involved in the fitting if you use someone elses product besides Borla or the brand of exhaust you purchase?

God I hope that made sense....

Hey Lori- pretty much any of the aftermarket Headers that are good (LG Motorsports, Dynatechs, Kooks etc..) sell a complete kit that bolts up to your engine, and goes all the way back to the rear axle, where the "cat back" portion of your exauhst starts,,, which is the Borla Stingers, BB Bullets and pretty much any aftermarket cat-back will bolt right up to the headers.
I hope that answers your question

Here is a picture of the Dynatech Supermax system, just click to enlarge. You do have to decide with some header kits if you want hi-flow cats, or no cats.

Well at least I made sense in my request. When I was typing it I could see people sitting at home reading it with that deer in the headlights look.

Thanks for the input---that has answered my question and I really appreciate it---it's been a very confusing decision..

It makes sense...but I dont know the answer as well...but I am curious though...Have you made up your mind as to which system you are going to buy for the car? The Stingers or Bullets, and if so, why did you choose it?

At this point I am leaning toward the Stingers. I will put them on just as the entire system first and see what I get. This car will be going to my daugher in 4 years so I am not sure that I will do the headers, cats and x-pipe until I get my other car---if at all. If I get the sound I am looking for out of just the Stinger system then I will probably only use that..On the flip side---the Bullets seem to be just as loud and cheaper but I still like the sound of the Stingers..Totally loud and awesome.. I'm so decisive aren't I???

Here is the link to what made up my mind for me..

Englandgreen was the absolute BEST help. His video is about half way down the thread---check it out. He tells you on top of each picture what system you are listning to. I just loved the sound of the Stingers with the headers, cats and x-pipe---but again---maybe all that on the next car---a nice little rumble for my daughter is more than enough..

Almost all the systems will fit together.

Incase you did not know, Borla makes the headers for LG...

If you are being decisive, I guess I am too. The reason I asked is because I am in the same situation. I am not sure which one to choose. What I am looking for is not necessarily the "loudest" system out there (Which I wouldnt mind if it was though), but a mean, agressive, commanding attention, tuned sound. I know I could cut my mufflers and have a loud car, but its a vette...I want it to sound nice as well...

Thanks for the help...

You sound alot like me so I am betting that once you listen to Englandgreen's video with the Stingers, headers, cats and x-pipe---your mind will be made up. I like the entire set up but I don't want my daughter having that--so just the Stinger set up for now and the Stinger set up plus all the rest for my new C5---4 years gives me time to save..

Lori

BTW---let me know what you think after listening to the video's..

Lori,

I listened to both videos...and not only those, but I have heard many more from other places on the web, and I always keep going back to the stingers. They may not be the loudest, but definitely seem to have the better sound.

The only thing is that every clip I have heard is the Stingers with some other mod done. I dont plan on modding the car at all. I want to keep it all stock, except for the exhaust. I dont know if that will change the tone of the sound to something I am not sure of.

I know listening it on the web is not the same as in person, but there is still clearly a difference. There is a member on the forum that lives really close to me and he has the Bullets on his car. Hopefully soon our schedules can match and I can actually hear it in person. I-F possible, I will ask him if its ok for me to take video so I can share it with everyone here....thats a HUGE maybe though...

Anyways, thank you for your help and didnt realize it till now, but sorry I hijacked your thread.

Joe,

Hijack away...I have no problem with people jumping in when they have the same questions as me. It is great to help more than one person at a time and I did the same thing yesterday on another thread and he felt the same way. If we are all looking for the same answer---not a big deal---you may eventually ask a question I never thought of--which in turn helps me and others---Hijacking is a problem when you go completely off subject..

I completely agree with you about the Stingers---I think that for now---they will be more than enough for my daughter---I'll get louder later.

Make sure to let me know if you post that video so I can take a look..

You are welcome If you can, the safest way to make your choice is to try and find a vette local to you, and go listen in person and make sure it's not too loud inside the car also. YOu have to be careful with the exhaust sound clips because a lot of those cars have mods like Cam, heads, Superchargers, all of these will significantly change the tone/loudness of the exhaust.

The Borla Stingers are a very popular choice, they are not the loudest but have a good sound and are a decent "loudness" The BB Bullets and SLP Loudmouth are the loudest cat-back, and especially if you add headers.

Willfulone----how loud is your car? I have seen the special that GHL is offereing and am considering this as well---again---I will be giving this to my daughter in 4 years--I don't want to blow her eardrums out but I don't want it quiet as stock--make sense??

Thanks

Willfulone asked me to start my car at Carlisle last year so his wife could hear if it was too loud (Stingers/headers etc.)

She said it was fine - and he got the thumbs up to buy headers

And thanks for the kudos. As others have said, listen to as many Vettes as you can in person.

Englandgreen---my favorite person to talk to---what do you think of the GHL's?? You already know I love the sound of the Stingers with all the additions---so what is your take on the GHL's? As you can tell---I have come to value your opinion very much in one day---but you took the time to explain and that means alot..

Willfullone----sounds like a lady after my own heart---we would get along well I believe...
