I am new to this forum just wanted to let you know about a wheel clean I just found that you may know about. Dupont Teflon wheel cleaner. Those wheels on my 07 Zo6 get a lot of brake dust and are so deep to clean. Just spray on and hose off works great! also safe for paint,, glass etc. I tested it on the paint on my 06 Z06 before I traded.
Watch the overspray, believe it or not, there have been more than a few front reverse leaf springs that have delaminated. GM says it is because of wheel/tire cleaner over spary deteoriating the leaf. I know personally of a friend of mine with an 04Z16Z06, in NJ that has had this happen, and GM will not fix under warranty. Not trying to hijack this thread, do a forum search, there have been others.
Spray on hose off never works to the standards we keep for our vettes... however if brake dust is especially nasty it can help loosen it up.
Go away :
Try Carbotech pads for the track. They dust plenty, like any good track pad, but it comes right off with the same soap you wash your car with. Ceramic for the street and you are all set
Water and Maquires mild car soap. I saw the delamination that was mentioned earlier. Not good! I stick to my extra soft bristle brush now. A little extra time, but I will sleep at night.
I cheat once in awhile with simple green, but its more like a blessing even though its probably safe. Failure on a high speed run - OMG!
I forgot to mention that I'm so dam lazy, I took my chrome wheels off, and put the stock gunmetal ones on. The dust(and there is a lot) that my polymatrix pads make doesn't look too bad on them
