Default Question on seat memory....

Is seat memory somehow contained in the key fob? The reason I ask is because the first owner was considerably shorter than I am .....and sometimes (not every time) I unlock my car and the seat automatically has moved forward. I keep it as far back as it can go since I am over 6' tall. Any insights on to make this stop happening?

Thanks a bunch.

Your key fob is numbered 1 or 2. Whenever that fob unlocks the door, it sets the seat to the memory stored in that corresponding number... at least that's the way it's supposed to work...

Also to reset the mamory setings to fit you, look at your fob, and the number on the back.
You then when the car is stopped, adjust you seat how you want it, then hold down the memory button on the door, which corrisponds to the # on your FOB, and hold it down until it lights up solid.
Now every time yoou hit "unlock" on the fob, once you get in and insert the key it will adjust to your new setting.

As stated above it is the fob not the key, thats why it seems intermitant sometimes, as you may not be hitting the fob every time you enter your car.

Oh wow, I had no idea that stuff stored in the key fob.. I've been fiddling with the seat memory for awhile, finally got it where I wanted but without a full understanding of how the memory function works.

It doesnt acctually store it in the fob, more like the fob tells the cars cpu which setting to use once the key is inserted.
And yes this forum does rule
