Default NEW winter storage question.

Front left tire loses 4 psi air each week. I have runflats. What is going to happen if I dont air this thing up all winter?

The answer is simple, if you're running 30psi, in 7.5 weeks you'll have 2 flat tires..

Tommy,

If the car is on a flat surface the tire should provide enough cushion and prevent any damage to the wheel itself. Personally, I would place jack-stands under the front cross member taking the weight off the front suspension. You might even want to think about removing the front tires and wheels as well. This way you'll be sure nothing becomes damaged over the winter.

Maybe I'm off track here, but I'd fix the leak. Little soap and water will find it. Might be simple.

Won't damage the rim but the weight of the car could distort the bead and it will never seat properly. Take it off and get it checked. The sooner, the better.

The leak is too slow to find.

If it's losing 4 lbs a week, it's not too slow to find. If you are going to go so far as to take off the wheels and tires and jack it up for storage(which I'd never do either), get a big tub of water and stick the tire into it, standing the tire up, then roll to next spot. If even a bubble comes out of the sensor or around the bead, you can probably fix it. I sure wouldn't go forever with a leak and worry about storage and keeping the pressure up. Anything can be fixed. I've never seen a leak you couldn't find with really soapy water. Lay the wheel down and put soapy water in the bead on one side then the other. Be especially watchful around the stem. If nothing there, soap up the tread area. Unless there's a crack in the inside of the wheel, you should be able to find it.

Just noticed in your original post, you have runflats. How can your rim be damaged by air loss? You can drive the car with no air and not damage the rims.

I agree with the others that you should attempt to find the leak.
Using either the tub or a spray bottle with soapy water.
You could also fill the tire with a few more psi of air than normal
to see if that makes finding the leak easier.
As a last resort, take it to a Goodyear shop.
Let us know how it comes out.

4 lbs/wk, you can find that leak. They may be runflats, but I would not want my car sitting on a flat for a couple of months. Get it fixed first.

Default leak

if you are gonna let it just sit, jack it up and take off the leaker in the next coming month after you winterized it, and get it fixed. I mean you have months to get this tiny little task accomplished!!!

Got to agree with trying to find out just where it is leaking. Good luck.
