Default BCM Module Question?

i have a 97 and was offred a 98 bcm module.my question is will the 98 work on a 97 and if so does anything need to be reprogramed or is it plug and play and work fine with my 97?

Eveen assuming the BCM used in the 97's and 98's are the same, it still would have to be re-programmed.

There are at least three things I can think of that re-quire the re-programming ....

1) Unless you get really lucky, the resistor pellet in the 98 is probably different from the one in your igniition key ... so the BCM won't let the car run without these matching.

2) Even if they match, the BCM sends a "password" to the PCM to say that everything is OK to drive the car ... the password must be reprogrammed both in the BCM and the PCM.

3) Again unless you're VERY lucky, the 98 vehicle probably has different options than yours, such as Twilight Sentinal ... the BCM has to be programmed for the options installed on your car.

You need someone with a Tech2 scanner and the knowledge of how to go about this to make it work.
