Default Update On Weird Noise!! : (

Last week I posted this thread http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1535213

At first I thought it must be the springs making those noises but after tonight I do believe it's something entirely different. I took the car (03 z06) over to my cousins shop and went up with the car on the lift so I could rev it up a little and he could look for the noise. I'm going to try to explain this the best I can since I'm not exactly a car mechanic myself Right by where that spring is and around it is the catback exhaust; but underneath that is like a shield that needs to be taken off to get to the tranny ?? I can see little pebbles stuck and wedged on the sides of this and I'm assuming that if there are those two there are probably a few others that I can not see but I sure can HEAR I hope this kind of makes sense to a few people as it is kind of hard for me to explain it correctly on here. I will take it back to him next week and we're gonna take this off and see whats up. Does anyone have any good pictures of the underbody of the C5 ? Maybe that will help ?

Hi thegame -

If it is the springs on the h-pipe hanger, you can use a crowbar to "adjust" the L-bracket to tighten the spring pressure as mounted.

JTAllen just brought his car out a couple of weekends ago and we put his up on the lift - he had the same noise you seem to be hearing.

We bent the brackets slightly to put more preload on those springs and he has been a happy camper since.

I think you are looking at the clutch / torque converter inspection cover - I think if there were pebbles in there you'd really be hearing something!

best regards -
