If you buy it back and want to take off your parts and resell it, I will give you good money for it. That is one way you might come out OK on the deal. I have a buyer right now looking for a car like yours to rebuild.
You might be able to negotiate a maximum repair amount, and keep from totaling the car. I have bought 2 cars from individuals that negotiated that with their insurance companies.
Find out what the car is worth. Then get an estimate to fix the car for 80% of that value. Then pay the deductible, take the 80%, keep the car with a clean title, and spend the money fixing it up.
It may not work that way in Texas, but in Alabama it does.
I don't mind you smashin up your own Vette, just don't smash up mine.

I gotta take a "Borat" stance on this one. No lady behind the wheel of the Vette
Geez Bill, everyone was betting that it would be you that put the vette into the wall. You know, during one of those drives home when Crystal was feeling a little tired so she puts her head in your lap. *cough cough*
Sorry to hear about the vette, guess I'll never get to wax your a$$ on the bike. Time for a C6?
Happy Hour tomorrow at Baker Street, don't forget.

Hehe I'm just kidding around. Sorry.
No offense ever taken. I actually think it is funny that some men truly do not htink we can handle our own car. I would never buy a car I could not handle and truly there are some women out there that should not be driving at all much less in a vette...

Well I'm not exactly sure how you would consider their driving here in PA but I spend alot of time yelling "where did you get your %^$@#& license?" I really think I could use a horn that curses for me so I can save my voice once in awhile. My husband says I have no patience behind the wheel---me??---NOoooooooooo---just get out of my way then and we have no problems..
Thought I'd update everyone. Things are taking a turn for the better. The insurance company is giving me ~$22.5k for it. They only added $200 for the blower and associated parts so I asked if I could remove them. They said that was not a problem as long as I returned it to ~stock form and it still ran. So deduct $200. Then I asked how much my transparent top added to the amount and they said nothing so I asked how much it would deduct to replace it with a scratched up but still well fitting top (which has been in my garage since I joined the flying roof club a couple years back). They said -$100. They rattled off all my options and had every one accounted for (HUD, climate control, Z51, sport seats) but missed the CD changer which added $300 so that washes the decuctions for the blower and top. So they are still giving me ~$22.5k and I get to remove my blower, injectors, pilar pod, fuel pressure gauge, wide band, Racetronix harness and maybe pump if I get ambitous, and my transparent top. Leaving the headers on because they are $350 e-bay headers and I don't have the stock manifolds or mid section and it would be more trouble than it's worth.
Given that there is no question that I am willing to part with the car now. CobraB4 is supplying me with an airbridge free of charge (Thanks a lot Brian!) and I am going to slap a cone filter on the other side of the MAF. Done and done.
So now I am looking at replacement C5's and I should be able to find a suitable replacement for the same or less and I can slap my blower back on. I have recently started looking at used '05 C6's also. If I sold the blower and associated parts I would have a pretty beefy down payment on a C6 although it would be missing ~200 HP. So my dismay has turned into excitement. All's well that ends well.
^ Sweet! I just slapped the label on the box, going to post office in 20 min. I have the bridge and the accourdian coupler in the box, can't find the band clamp for the coupler to the TB, but I'm sure you can fab something up to hand off to the ins. co.
Go drive some C6s... see if you like the newer better lights, interior, etc etc... if you find that you don't care about those things then get another C5 to mod up... if you like it, well then sell the top and the blower and get the new one.

Fortunately, my keeper of a wife refuses to drive my Corvette, even though I've offered to let her several times. God, I love that woman!
My wife will never drive my C5. If she asked, I would probably have to consent. HOwever, she knows how much it means to me, and probably just would not take the chance of driving it.
Same hear! She is a little scared of the Z.
Sorry to hear about the damage.
