they dont hate us, you just ran into a dude who is that way all the time, work play etc.. It is his personality, its not the fact that he has a ford and you have a Chevy.
And I have several friends with Mustang's - and we LOVE to rib each other.
I just hope the front discs - where the real stopping is done - are somewhat larger. My technician says even the rear brakes on Vipers are "decorative".
One of the problems I would have with owning a good one like an SVT Cobra is that they make fake ones (V6) and they can be tough to tell apart. There is nothing fake about a Corvette Another is at the Stealership they act like a Mach 1 or Cobra is God's gift. I have a neighbor that moved in recently, seems like a nice guy but I don't really know him. He has this Mustang and I am always in hurry going here or there so I never had a chance to ask about it but this Mustang looks fast. Custom rims and a bunch of decals. One day I was going for a run and I got a close look at the car. For some reason from a distance a decal looked something like a Grand National symbol and it caught my eye. I am thinking it was a GT to begin with. Its heavy but has like 300 hp (no clue of rwhp) stock. I wonder if this has enough mods to blow away my stock 00 coupe. Where the car normally says GT in front of the door its got these crazy looking emblems and I can't tell what it is. As I get closer to the car I realize its got this one little tiny exhaust, son of a B**** its fake To each his own.

Playing devil's advocate I bet some friendly Mustang owners have been greeted by some less than friendly Vette owners...
I love my Vette but I used to have a '95 Mustang GT (last of the 5.0's), and it was a great car.

We think a lot a like....this is what I was going to say minus the story of course. I use to be 03/04 Cobra guy but drove me nuts when you saw a cheap V6 stang look just like your car and even better sometimes. I prefer the vette because it's unique and you will never see them manufacture one with a 6 cyclinder.
If you can catch the documentary on the history of the Mustang on the Speed channel it explains it all. The Mustang started off as a "secretary's" car and sort of evolved into a muscle car. So it wasn't designed to be a full-fleged "muscle" or sports car, therefore you have everything from a six cylinder econo box all the way up to a fire breathing Cobra or Shelby. Unlike Ford, Chevy designed the Vette as a sports car and stayed with a "one car" concept, no grocery getters, just pure power sports car that got more powerful as it evolved. Two different cars, two different concepts.
I had one, it was a fun car for a while. I beat the bloody hell out of that thing. I have a buddy who bust bought his third - but I think I'm starting to show him the light.
I've had Mustang GT's and Corvettes. I traded a 99 GT Vert for my first 2001 Corvette Vert. Although the Mustang was a nice car, IMO, it was just a car. With all the differences with the cars, one thing that many don't realize is the cost for insurance. I'm with Amica. When I bought the Corvette, I asked why my insurance was so much cheaper on the Corvette. My agent said 20 year boys don't wrap Corvettes around trees. I wasn't complaining! Mustang insurance is outragous!
As I travel alot, I drive alot of rental cars. I often seem to get a Mustang. I absolutly love the body styling of the new generation Mustang. But I hate the interior. It seems so Yugo-ish. What happened @ Ford for them to build the interior like this?
Oh well. Like many have said before me; The Vette and mustang cant really be compared. The mustang is just a car and the Vette is a Freakin CORVETTE!!!
You can take this for what it's worth, but my wife used to work in the office of a Ford dealership and the employes were required to park on the street in front of business. Whenever her Bronco II wasn't running, she'd borrowed my Vette and parked it as usual. I don't know if the owners were kidding, but she heard that whenever she drove mine and parked it where she did, that they couldn't sell any Mustangs that day, and mine's a C4. Go Figure.
