Everytime she sees me getting ready to down-grab second gear against one of these azzhats, Mrs. EscapePod reminds me that Florida's confiscation law is now in effect. Usually calms me right down, and I let the Honda/Toyota/Nissan/Eclipse/BMW/Volksvagen/Audi go.

Ms. Significant Other reminds me constantly, "Honey please don't rice, 'kay?" I think ours are in effect now also.

A little different story, not that i haven't been challenged many times. Most of the time i just shrug it off because i don't really care to race. I have nothing to prove. Anyways my wife had to run into the grocery store just for a few minutes. So i have the car running and waiting for her return. When i see this awesome Viper parking down about ten car lengths from me. As he walks by me he says " boy does that sound mean". I say naturally thank you, and tell him what an awesome viper he has. Then i ask him if he would like to trade for the day? He laughs and says i am up to that Couple of days before that i am trying to get on this street and because of heavy traffic no one will let me in. I see this red Ferrari coming, and low and behold he stops and lets me come in to the lane. Just goes to show the respect that some of us have for each other and our cars

I remember driving my old 240sx and trying to get Vettes to race me, just because I loved Vettes, not because I thought I could beat them. Not one Vette ever raced or even touched the gas. I had a better chance racing a Honda owner. I guess they have some ballz atleast.
Your giving us a bad rep.
Get some ballz and drive it like you stole it!
You're doing a pretty good job of giving yourself a "bad rep". You should have stuck with the 240SX...it fit your attitude/personality better.

You never know. Saw a Civic running in the low 10's at the track the other day. From the outside, you would never know. I don't even want to know how much boost he must have been running.

If he runnig low 10s he probably has about 30lbs of boost in 3rd and 4th gears. I have a friend with the same set up. You would never know it either from looking at the car. Intercooler and exhaust painter black.

It’s too bad we weren’t able to get together for a cruise on Saturday. Nice job showing your son how to act responsibly.

Had I been there I would have happily provided for you and your son an example of what NOT to do, as well as an example for the WRX sti of why NOT to mess with a Corvette.

Same type of thing happened to me this weekend. Running rather quickly on a major interstate and come up on a mid 90's Rustang GT (passenger side looks like it been up against several trees so it's nothing special) going about 75 in the fast lane. So I just pull into the center lane and roll on by. No problem, right?
Well the redneck occupants decide they're not gonna let a Vette go by them and they floor it (Usual amount of s$$t blowing out the exhaust).
Then they get about three cars in front of me and the passenger sticks his arm out the window and waves for me to come on. Well now I'm resisting the temptation but it starts to bug me. So I down shift into 5th gear and just then the S/O looks at me and says "don't even think about it". Now normally this wouldn't deter me but I figured oh screw it. Nothing to prove here and just keep it at cruise speed.
I'm sure the "boys" were telling everyone at the local bar that night how they blew off a Vette today.
I know I'm a better person for this, right?

Not to belabor the issue, but I don’t (can’t) believe that it’s that simple.

If all it took was $2,300 to run low 10’s in a Honda Civic, I suspect there would be 1000’s of low 10 second Hondas roaming the streets. This is simply not the case. If it’s really that easy let me know. I’ll by one!

If you're talking about 1/8 mile times it might be believable.

Default Let me know...

...how long after the addition of the turbo kit that the Honda needs the engine overhauled.

Quick story...running down the river road just south of Alton (yes another StL Vette) and a black Honda accord pulls door to door with me.

I speed up 5, he mirrors me, I drop 5 mph and he does likewise. So I let the big toe of my right foot touch the carpet. In about 2 seconds the HUD shows 3 figures and in another 2 I am back at the posted limited.

The guy never even came within an 1/8 of a mile of me even after I slowed to 5 under again to do penance for my 5 seconds of evilness. Either he must have thought I was loco or he was too embarassed (probably both)

You can't call it racing, it was more of a cleansing...

...of valves, pipes and one leach like ricer.

p.s. no traffic, clear weather, and enjoying the drive...just to salve the righteous ones out there. Besides I did my 5 Hail Chevys!

And a bump for the "a$$hole magnet". Now that is PRICELESS!

I wish I knew how to race...I get dropped at the line all the time...

Seriously, my launches suck. I wish I new how to do it better, just so I could get to 60 faster than the other guy...but I really do suck at it.

I think I feather the clutch too much...when I pop it too fast, there's a lag, and I haven't driven sports cars enough in life to know better.

/hangs head in shame...off to post the '99 on cars.com.

Thank you Vettephysician. This is the most fun I've had on a thread so far. Just remember its all in good fun.

And yes, that is my shifterkart, and it is a Honda. Do you think you could handle it?

Engine= 99Cr125 Thats Cubic Centimeters
Peak horsepower=40
Redline=14000rpms
curb weight=210lbs
0-60=3 sec
top speed=125mph
lateral G's=3
6speed clutchless sequential gearbox
4-wheel ventilated discs

Personally I don't think that is much to laugh at. But thats just me.

To the others. Yes, I am impressed with some Hondas out there. But a lot of things impress me, like the curve of a nice behind, a big set a *****, the roar of an F1 car, and a Corvette. Some things don't impress me. (i.e. nascar.) However I will never own a Honda car unless it is an NSX. The others models are just not sprorty enough.

Hey I typed in 200mph Honda on google. Boo Bam here you go...

Please feel free to keep the comments coming. I can take it.

Chevy could've installed a 4-cylinder under your hood and you'd never notice.
