Default what to do?

Hey guys/girls. I have never posted in this section before. I currently own a 1994 and have been modifying it for a while now. I am at that stage where I either spend the big bucks and 383 or supercharge, or move into a ~2002 or newer Z06 and begin again.

My desire is to have a solid 500HP that is drivable and of course in a corvette. I can do the 383 for about 5 grand or spend 15-20 and trade into the Z06. Of course there's more to consider than just money or the choice would be a no brainer. I'm sure the Z06 would be a wicked car and would not require much modification to get to the 500HP mark. I'm just on the fence of what to do. I really love my 1994 but it's getting older.......and putting more money into it makes me think of the cents/sense......

what are your guys thoughts...and please no bashing...we all love corvettes here.

Go for the C5...the difference is incredible! You wouldn't even have to go Z06 to achieve 500 HP, but it helps. Good luck with your decision.

If by "500hp" you mean 500 rwhp, why would you conclude that it wouldn't take much modification of a Z06 to get there? That's a whole ton of power for a driveable NA 5.7l engine. If can be done, but it ain't easy. Check the sig lines here in C5 and see what most guys are making.

If you want a C5, by all means get one. But if you want "500hp" $15-20k can buy that any day.

Buy the C5 Z06 and enjoy it for awhile without spending heavy into the mods and then once you have recovered from the original purchase start on your mods. Another thing you should consider, there are quite a few really nice modified Z06's out there for a really good price. Check out Z06vette.com

I have had several C4's and really enjoyed them...but really like the C5...it's much easier to live with and the LS1/6 platform is great for making power. You could even pick up a coupe/vert or hardtop and start the mods there and you would be very happy. I would pick up a Z if you can....that would be great!! Don't be afraid to buy an '01...especially if you intend to mod it.

ECS just released their new heads/cam package that broke the 500rwhp barrier. So, a coupe or z06 with an ECS heads cam package might do the trick for you.

Since you really like your C4, I would recommend that you go out and test drive an 02 Z06 to see if that is really the direction you want to go. In terms of dollars and sense, it would be less expensive to keep the C4 and mod it than buy a C5. I just recently bought an 02 Z06 for $30K after looking pretty intensely for a while.

ECS has a cam/head package that will get you 500+ RWHP for I think around $6400 installed. If you do a search on ECS you will see some posts on the subject. You could also just call ECS.

Good luck, whatever direction you decide to go.

Hey thanks for the responces guys. As for the HP, I did mean engine HP not RW. Sure I would love the RW but from the engine is enough for daily driving........I know I will wish someday I never thought this
