Default Odd targe roof problem...

Maybe you guys can help me here.

I have both tops for my car. The glass top fits great, no leaks and the doors shut fine with the windows up.

Now on to the painted top. If the windows are all the way up you hear and see the glass smack the seals on the top. It also leaks. It "looks" like it fits fine. I don't get it, how can one top fit fine and the other appear to have issues? They're both OEM tops. Are there adjustments I can make to the painted top? This has me stumped.

Thanks guys

EDIT: I can't type, it's suppose to be "targa" in the title.

I have read that the dealerships do this, but I have not read any DIY procedures for the home mechanic. The "glass" top is a bit more flexible, so my guess is that it conforms a bit more to the supporting contours. Have you tried a search for "window adjustment"?

Although I don't have a painted one, I have seen both fit the same car perfectly. Are you sure the handle locks are locked correctly and maybe have a second person on the other side. Your right, if everything is equal, that would stump me...

Default Mine fit perfect.

I have both tops for My 98 and they both fit perfect with no problems at all. The car came from the factory with both tops so I guess the factory fitted each top before shipping.

Nope, it's not the windows. The glass top doesn't cause the problem with the glass and it doesn't leak, it's just with the painted top.

I've got the same issue - the glass top fits fine and the painted top doesn't.

Mine doesn't leak but I get wind noise with both windows rolled up. The noise is coming from the passenger's side, up where the top meets the targa.

I double checked the weather strip on both sides of the top (painted) reseated them both in the groove that runs along the edge of the top. But short of some sort of catch/lock adjustment I don't know what to do.

Mine has a similar problem as well, my painted top leaks water in around weatherstripping for the top of the window, my glass top doesnt leak at all.
