Any help would be appreciated. It's obvious the center section is shaped differently, but that could be due to the center cover over the airbag and not have anything to do with the mounting of the wheel itself.

You would need to change to the C6 airbag and the connectors for the airbag are also different. It's not plug and play. It could be done but it will be pricey.
Someone in the C6 forum changed a 05 steering wheel to a 06 wheel and it ended up costing $500 - $600 due to the airbag and connectors.
