reduce brake dust??
What (if anything) can I do to reduce the brake dust on my 04 C5? I get the wheels nice and clean and then I drive it for 2-3 miles and the wheels are dusty already? Any ideas? I put rejex on the thin spokes and it does help to keep them clean but I have never owned anything that can make this much dust.
Thanks

Switch to GM's ceramic brake pads, greatly reduces the brake dust. I had the same problem using Z06 pads (loved them for stopping ability), then switched to GM ceramic. Only a slight difference in stopping ability over 100 mph, street driving only.

I have less than 7k and at slow speeds mine sound like someone running finger nails down a chalk board. I checked everything out when I had the wheels off and everything checks out ok. Just dust and noise. I will try the ceramic pads on the next paycheck.

I worry about the stopping ability of the ceramics. Also - do they REALLY dust less, or is it that the dust is much lighter in color and it's not as noticeable?
I have EBC ceramic pads on my car and dust is almost non existent. They work fine on the street, no screeching, no fading and no pulsating. Would get them again.

I've had Hawk ceramic pads on my car for 4 years and have never had a problem with noise or dust. I had EBC pads on another car and they were as bad as the stock pads for dust.
I have the ceramic pads. Much less dust. BUT if you do two hard stops from high speed, the next time you hit the brakes it will feel like you are not going to stop. I hate theses pads and will be replacing them.
Less dust= brake fade
I had the same issues on my 04. Lots of dust and the damn things squealed almost from day one. I swapped out pads and rotors for sportbrakes slotted and dimpled rotors and Hawk ceramics. This has solved the dusting and squealing problems.
It will introduce the potential for different problems though. Even though the Hawk ceramic pads have great stopping power, I would never, ever run them on the track. When these things get hot, the brake fade is REALLY noticible.
I ran ceramic pads for a few weeks, HATED them and took them right back off. They don't give the same pedal feel, nor do they stop as well. I couldn't stand them. I chose braking feel and performance over a little dust.
Brakes are a safety item not a bling factor. Do what's safe, not what looks the best.
