Its pretty straight forward. I fitted mine in a few hours after a bit of good advice fron PFYC. They sell the light kit and the plug and play harness for the hi wattage bulbs (135/90)
I can tell you how not to do it though Its a long story
I installed mine a year ago in July - no problems yet - great mod. Purchased from PFYC with High-Wattage harness.
The only thing "tricky" about the install that I remember is in the removal and reinstall of a couple bolts. With a lot of patience regular wrenches could be used by flipping them back and forth, but I opted for buying a set of Snap-On Flex Box-end/open end metric wrenches (about $220), but you could buy just the single wrench you need (and like I say even that is optional). I notice that Craftsman also makes these wrenches, but they are a little bulkier as is usually the case.
Whole install took me about 4 hours.
I did notice that after about a month every now and then the right headlamp would not close. PYFC sent me a small adapter/converter plug (at no charge) to add to the harness to fix the problem as this was a know issue. Has not acted up since.
I'm looking into getting some and want to know if its beyond DIY for an average (but brave) wrench-turner.
Here's the product description for the harness from PFYC. I've always had good service from them and they are Forum vendors. You select the T84 lenses in the drop down box. Alternatively, the lenses are GM parts and you could order from one of the Forum dealers. The harness adapts the wiring for the dual filament bulbs and to allow you to fit high wattage PIAA bulbs which come with the kit.
The problems I referred to were that one light was damaged on arrival (quickly replaced by PFYC) and I managed to break one during fitting. Thought I'd do a function check before I finally installed the light. Managed to knock it off the fender when I cycled the headlight doors by accident. I broke the light unit The good news is I'd installed it correctly and the lights were working:o
It's not that hard. I would suggest using a gear wrench for removing the bolts that hold the headlamp. There is not much room at all for getting them in and out. Also make sure that you thread the bolts into the new headlamps before you try to bolt them in to the car. It will make it much easier. Also be careful when removing the painted headlamp cover. I broke one of the tabs but was able to epoxy it back. Good luck.
