Just had my Corvette shipped from Washington state to San Antonio using an enclosed trailer. Picked up on October 27th Due to arrive on Nov. 10th. The Vette didnt get to San Antonio until today! And when it arrived for delivery. WOW! water marks everywhere. Not to mention the damages. Chain damages on the Right rear panel "a chuck of the car is missing! And the front left tire fender scraped from apparent use of chains! The convertible top is soiled! What a disappointment! DAS was the car hauler. Dependable Auto Shippers! HA! Does anyone know a great Paint shop in San Antonio? I will send pictures later! Thanks
That is why it pays for the enclosed trailer, and always pictures should be taken before and upon delivery, not trying to make the situation sound worse for you, but most of us have allready learned from this , and I always put a hold on the funds until the vehicle was fully inspected after arrival with the seller resposnible for the insurance while shipping incase anything would happen the seller would have to deal with the insurance repairs if any needed.
Ive never had a problem with any enclosed haulers, and it always pays to know the route of which the hauler is traveling , because the repitable haulers will let you know exactly if your vehicle is going to be removed and put back on the hauler to accomadate other deliveries, but most of the repitable ones have this all planned out for there delivery so they have the minimal vehicle transfers, because they dont want the insurance claims against them either, it causes havoc on there own insurance premiums if they don't do a quality job.
Just a thought for any future shippings you might encounter
Find out who their insurance carrier is (it's called "garagekeepers" coverage) and file a claim against them. It's entirely your decision what to do, but I'd suggest not going with an attorney. Most attorneys will not take a property damage only claim unless they are getting paid by you (i.e. they won't work on contingency). You'll likely recover less money from the claim than what you'll have to pay the lawyer, plus it will greatly slow down the claim process. Because in the long run, it's going to go back to DAS Insurance company no matter what.
It's your call, but I'd recommend documenting everything very carefully and filing a claim with their insurance. Make sure you are clear and accurate with the insurance company adjuster. It will be their decision to pay the claim or not, so make sure you can show them everything they'll need. The company I work for doesn't insure DAS, but we insure other companies like them. See these kinds of claims all the time. Best of luck.

Sorry to hear about this misfortune. I have used Intercity Lines and never had an issue. They treated my car as if it were a Ferrari Enzo. Good luck with the repairs.
Sorry about the car. Good luck with the fix. FWIW, you probably would not have gotten a good recommendation for DAS from this forum and from others as well.
that clinches it.
I'm getting ready to move to WA this summer, and I was going to have the vette shipped, but I think I'll see if I can get one of my buddies or parents to drive it out.
Man that sucks. They sure screwed up what should have been a great experience. I would definately go after them for the damages though. Good luck and keep us posted.
