Wrong computer?
I recently had my 98' vert repaired after a front end collision. It has (had) active handling. Now when I press the active handling button on the console the DIC reads Traction Control - On/Off when pressed instead of Active Handling On/Off and Comp mode. The people that repaired it said they had to change the computer. Did they install the wrong computer?

Should be pretty simple to figure out. Find out what one they took out and look at the part number. I'm sure you told them it's not right? Did the 98 have competition mode? Does that work if it has it? I'm sure some experienced Corvette gurus will chime in soon. Good luck.

Active handling only became standard in 2001. Before that it was only an option. If they fitted a pre AH computer for a stock 98 Vert that may make sense.
