Love this thread, guys! Hey, any port in a storm, eh? A 1-car garage is better than parking outside. For years when I lived in apartments or houses with a 2-car and more than two cars I had to park my beautiful cars outdoors. I can tell you that I was known as the Perpetually-Detailing-Dude all those years. I didn't know any better.
Now that I have a decent size garage, I always keep as much space freed up in the garage as possible to make parking a breeze. I've even increased the number of cars I could squeeze in with a 4-post lift. It's Nirvana after "The Exposed Years". Heck, I almost got the wife to buy in on a six-car garage when we were looking for a new house this last go-around, but it wasn't meant to be.
Hang in there, fellas - you'll get the extra elbow room if you persevere.
I used to be there with you guys in our last home...it was a 2 car garage, assuming your two cars were a Miata and a Mini Cooper...
I made it a big priority to get better garage space when we were looking...and ended up with 2 garages (26x28, 20x30) that are both decent...
The best part is that we bought the house for less than what comparable houses were selling for with a 2 car garage...
I swear, one day I'm going to start an auto enthusiast community of nice homes, all with a 4car garage minimum. With the price of garage construction here, there's just no good reason not to build them larger...
It's a Kwik Lift. They're in MANY threads here - just search and also look at the links page. They're listed there. About the cheapest home lift you can get for your car. recommended by lots of folks on the forum.
