Default Vette Net

Accidentally posted this on the C4 forum first.

I am really new to the Corvette world and this forum.
Just purchased my 1998 Torch Red/black top vert on Oct. 1. Love it.
Been thinking about getting the Vette Net to help with the wind turbulance when the top is down.
Has anyone here used this Vette Net?
Does it really work the way they claim?
Where are the brackets attached to?
Seems awful pricey, but I would spend the money if it works.
Don't like the looks of the ones that just slip over the seats.

Thanks
Greg

Hi Greg, welcome to the forum and congrats on your new vette. I'm sure you will have some good times with it.

You will find mixed opinions on the vette net but it's just some don't like the looks. They are great on the road IMO. I have the older one that has a black screen in the center. The new one is shorter (looks like it doesn't stick up as much and i think it is made with some sort of clear plastic.

The reason some people don't like them is that they work best with the windows up. They work with them down too, but you notice a marked improvement when the windows are up on the freeway. I can talk and listen to the radio much better using the Vette Net and when it's really nice we sometimes leave the windows down. But, on a long drive is is much more pleasant with the net.

They are very easy to put in place. Have to have the top down and put a fastener on each side (they just slip in place) then close the back deck and the holders are in. Put ends of the net in the holder tubes and you are done. Maybe the new one is shorter so you can put the top up without removing it, don't know. It fits in the trunk and comes with a nice cover to store it. Got mine on Ebay for about $200 and sometimes you can find one here in C5 Parts for sale.

I would recommend using one, it's my personal choice. Search VET NET on the forum and you should find some threads on it with comments. You will see what i mean.

I bought one of the new ones (with the plexiglass) as a part of a GP and was less than impressed with the performance except under one driving situation. It didn't think it made much of a difference except at highway speeds with the windows up which is a In this situation there was a significant reduction in the amount of wind buffeting around. The fit and finish of the unit was very good. It was easy to install and will fit in the trunk when not being used.

Top down equals windows down, so I wound up selling it last year.

If you drive alot on the highway with the windows up, this is for you, otherwise save your money and by a window valet. $0.02 deposited.

Hope this helps
