Default Door Insert Thingee

OK...sheesh....I am now missing the "insert" which is just underneath the door handle (interior). This is a three "pronged" insert. Somehow mine came loose and whomever got in my car last time, when they opened/shut the door, it fell out. Gone. Grrrr.

How can I get a replacement for it? I went to GM parts, but that site is hopeless!

Any ideas..any help? Thanks.

Btw...I have an '00 Vette...not that it's really an issue, as I assume this part is similar on all the c5's.

I would think that any dealer should be able to come up with one...

My '02 driver side kept falling out so I finally glued it. It always fell inside the car, under the seat-check it out first.

The dealer nearest you probably stocks them. I paid a little over $4 a pair, but I have a buddy at the dealership. Others paid $4 apiece, some paid $6. You can also get them from supporting vendors (Bean, etc.). Usually one of the locking tabs has been bent or broken off and they fall off. Hope you didn't glue it in TOO well, especially if it's on the passenger side 'cuz it's about time for the passenger side window regulator to stop working. You're going to try the door slam with the down button pressed and it may work for awhile, but then you're going to need to change the regulator or the motor and THEN you're going to have to dig out a glued in cover.

Your local Chevy parts department should be able to look this up for you and get you the part. If they can't find it, give Bob at Fichtner Chevy a call.

The first time that happened to me I purchased a replacement at my dealer. When the replacement one fell out a few months later, I was lucky enough to recover it and just glued it back on.

Try the dealer. Shipping is more expensive than the part

Call that dealer and quote me: : :

Call another dealer. The first one just doesn't want to mess with ordering the part. Special ordered mine maybe two months ago and had them at the parts counter in two days.
