Default Headers or Gears?

What should I do next to my 02Z, LT headers or 390 gears? I am leaning to the headers. I have a Blackwing and B&B PRT's. I go to the drag strip every so often, but mostly daly driver. Thanks for your help. Brian.:

Such a hard choice. I did headers then gears. Think the headers are nice for the sound of the car, bur gears make driveability so much better. Especially when you get a cam or some later mods. If you do headers I suggest a tune as well.

I know about how much the headers with a tune will coast, but how much for the gears + instalation?

the headers would be cheaper and easier to install, more sound too

the gears will waken up response, but cost more, a bit more pain to install

The Z's 1st three gears are = to 3.90's & then 3.42's for the next three gears. So I would get the LT Headers *Kooks 1st, LG or AR second. Thats my opinion. All are great headers, you can't go wrong with either of them

Gears will make the car feel a bit faster especially through the first few gears but wont make any more power, headers will give you more HP and actually make your car faster. If your running on a non drag radial type tire you are just wasting your money on gears.

Headers first...an added bonus besides increased power is also the weight reduction of 20 or so pounds.

Definatley Headers. You gain power, you'll have to do them anyway if you want to mod, sounds better, you lose 30 lbs or so, engine is more efficient, if anything you might gain mpg (with a tune), and you can do plugs easy while your in there, and you now have better plug access.

Gears are a great mod, very fun to drive, make the car more driveable, might lose a tad bit of mpg, not much, but the reason why I say headers over gears, is because of traction. You wont be able to go WOT in first at all with street tires. Any kind of hard shifting into 2nd, possibly third you'll blow away/ or at least break the tires loose. But with drag radials, gears are the ****.
