Adding a thousand pounds of pumps and batteries is a little more extreme than just lowering the car an extra half an inch. I drive my car hard on the street and feel just as comfortable with it lowered as I did with it stock. If you are pushing the limit on the street so far that you can notice a difference in an extra half inch you are going to end up in the ditch even with stock ride height.
Not exactly true. The GM recommendation is based on how far down the car can go without getting into the jounce bumpers inside the shocks. Once you lower beyond that point you stand a good chance of getting into the jounce bumper (even on the street) when going over a bump. When that happens the spring rate changes drastically for an instant and the car will become a bear to handle if you are in a turn. Of course you can disassemble the shock and trim the jounce bumpers to solve that problem but that is a trial and error process to make sure you have them trimmed correctly.
Yes, you can get a VBP front spring, you can drop as far as you want then, just like coilovers. I have one I was going to use, but got a set of coilovers I may be using instead, let me know if you are interested.
Really? From what i've researched in the past, this just replaces the stock leaf spring and doesn't have any effect on the ride height. Where did you get your info?
I'm lowered on stock bolts and have to say that if I went any lower driving would almost become a chore. I seem to scrape my air dam on everything. I do have to say it would look nicer if it was lowered another inch or inch and a half but I enjoy driving the car too much to have to deal with a car dumped to the floor.
I agree that larger wheels make the gap look a bit more pronounced. I put 18/19s on and the gap looks a little bigger - I am looking to do a slight lower on mine.
We manufacture three styles of springs for your Z06. We have a replacement spring which we equate to a stock ride. We have a Sport version with lower arch and stiffer rates and then we have our Extreme which basically has little arch and has adjustors for maximum ride height adjustments.
Because we manufacture these springs we have all types of styles and spring rates available in stock or we can custom make you one. We can match you up with the perfect spring to fit your driving style and what you hope to accomplish with regard to height and performance.
We have all of our suspension packages on sale for the month of December at 15% off list or we offer all Corvette Forum members and Corvette Club members a 10% off.
Please give us a call toll free at 1-800-237-9991 or email me directly at pattie@vbandp.com and we will discuss your project.
Yep,my 02 Z was lowered 1in all around on the stock bolts.Looks great.Scrapes a lot more.
Expect to replace the side rubber front spoilers every year, but they are cheap at about $40 a set.I also got the FattDaddy wheel to take the scrape off the front frame rail.
This causes more scrape, but the wheels roll and keeps the damage off the rail. The are approx $45 a set.
