I've been looking around ebay a bit, and found a whole mess or rotors for under $150 (for 4). It appears these rotors are zinc coated for anti-rust. A couple of guys have said they hold up nice, but the also paid over $200.
Has anyone went with these cheapo's to see if they work?
I found that if excellent stopping power is necessary and a pulsating brake pedal drives you nuts, then stay away from plain-disc rotors. Slotted rotors are the better way to go for two reasons.
1. They run cooler and prevent brake pad deposit buildup (which causes the dreaded pulsating pad syndrome)
2. They prevent glazing of the pads from infrequent use.
I chose PowerSlot rotors; they are cad-plated (more durable than zinc-washed)
I got a set of drilled/slotted rotors off Ebay for a total of about $140 about a year ago. Have held up great and a nice change from stock. Look better. Wasn't looking for increased stopping power but these perform well. I don't have any complaints about mine and saved a good bit over "name brands".
