I guess that's the price you pay to live out there with all the crazies...
Of course, they're not much better here in 'Bama, but at least we get 93!
I'm new here, but I was a GM ASEP technician training instructor up until 6 years ago, what I learned is your engine is designed for 87, it has quick burn combustion chambers for emissions. Running premium wont hurt anything, but isn't needed. I've been running 89 in mine to compensate for discrepancies in fuel quality, the car doesn't ping, and runs great, and delivers outstanding fuel economy.
I have used other brands before in the 00 and 01. Both had intermittent problem with gas guage quitting when they would get under half a tank. Someone told me to switch to Shell. I did switch and have not had the problem in either car since. May just be a coincidence, but I will continue to use Shell as long as my gas guages keep working.
