I have a 2002 bought new, only problems I have had with the car

1.) Column lock recall
2.) Fuel guage sensor malfunction (replaced under warranty)

Maintainance costs:
1.) two oil changes a year= 150$
2.) New tires (firehawl oval)= 850$ including installation
3.) upgraded to 04 shocks= I think around $500 including installation (I may be off on this)
4.) Alignment (after shocks and tires) $80

Elective stuff:
1.) Ipod adapter- 200$
2.) Halltech stinger air intake -250$

I have had it over 4 years and it has been very good/reliable to me
Good luck!

C5s are very dependable cars and you can do 99% of the repairs and maintenance yourself. Keep reading the forum and you'll soon see these guys either know how to do whatever it is you want or they know where to get the information .

Some things I would recommend right from the start:
- oil/filter change
- new trans and dif fluid
- wouldn't hurt to replace brake fluid, PS fluid, and coolant - but not really necessary either
- check the codes and see what (if any) are current, and what are in history - investigate any you find
- column lock bypass is a good idea
- CAGS bypass was a must have for me
- catch-can is a good idea if you are going to be doing lots of high-RPM driving

things to be careful of:
- the mod bug, it can get damn expensive

all the other stuff I can think of is going to be purely by preference. there is a lot of good information here and many people willing to help with any problems that might arise.

Default 2002 Z06

I have a 2002 Z06 since 2002. Love the car. I have had no problems what so ever. Very good brake pad replacement procedures on this forum,

My experience is that it is very easy to work on. I have about 16,000 on mine and intend to keep it.

The posts to your e-mail are very good and should help you.

Questions are fine, and it looks like most of the basics are covered for now. Just driving it on the street, I'd change the oil when the oil life meter tells you, and I'd go on and change the trans fluid, diff oil and brake fluid (to establish a consistent schedule). Make sure the radiator is flushed once a year (dexcool anti-freeze can gel a little). Mine is a reliable car.

I have my Z06 3 1/2 years and now have 44,000 miles. It's an '03. I use it for work sometimes, usually at least once a week, several long distance road trips, pleasure driving and even local errands. On the whole, even with a couple of minor repairs, it's been generally a very reliable car. Despite all the mods I made for my own satisfaction, I would still love this car even if it were still stock. To be capable of blowing off almost any car on the road for the price of it new and also get such great gas mileage, have a comfortable ride and carry plenty of luggage, what else could you possibly buy that gives such an unbelievable combo.
