Default Corvette tax...

I see this referred to often. Is this some sort of joke or what?

Just a reference to the added cost of corvette parts compared to other vehicles.

The term is used in reference to having to pay higher prices for parts and services than what other typical car owners pay. However, the corvette tax is nowhere near as high as what Ferrari owners pay and from what I hear what some Porsche owners pay.

Somewhat of a joke but.....some folks think because you drive a Corvette, you must have $ so they feel you'll pay more. Thus the reference to Corvette tax.

I have been quoted labor prices at almost double. All parts are special this and special that, also requires a special tool from a special tech. . If you call on some of their quotes and show that you have some working knowledge of your car, the Corvette Tax is often waived.

As an example: Up to $150 for a little piece of shiny metal with the C5 or Z06 logo to glue to the space between your tail pipes.

Like owning a Cadillac, parts are the same as other GM cars but cost more.
