Default (Another) CLB Question

I just purchased a 2001 vert with 14K miles. GM still shows an open recall on this car for the CLB problem. I believe the general opinion is to skip the GM upgrade an install a CLB. Do most people agree? How can I tell if the previous owner installed his own CLB fix?

Skip the GM recall and get the the CLB. Too many horror stories about continued failures even with the recalls. With the key out of the ignition, turn the steering wheel. If it locks, the CLB was not installed by the previous owner. Good luck.

Avoid the "Nightmare Before Christmas" and ask Santa for a CLB.

Agree. Get the CLB. I bought one from Thunder Racing and it took about 30 minutes to install. Worth the peace of mind.

I'm not even affected having an A4

From all the threads that have run here over the last few years I'd say it was a no brainer. The GM mod has been spectacularly ineffective IMHO. Go with the CLB. Its very rare to hear complaints about that mod.
