Does the traction control affect how the car pulls? If you have it off, can you get more out of your car off the line, or does it just help you stay in a straight line if you have it on? I was just reading something on the C6 ZO6 forum and a guy said that the car pulls harder when the TC is turned off. I always thought that it helped you if the rears broke loose, i.e. no performance gains.
I always drive with mine on, but never experimented with this.

Thanks.
TC will bog the car down if it detects impending tire slip. Earlier models (Pre-2001) had a more aggressive algorithm that was very noticeable and some people complained that they could feel the car lose power when they tried to hammer it (may have been a good thing). TC in 2001+ is less intrusive but still there.
So in short, yes, it does affect the acceleration response of your car. If you turn it off you can bring it up to and beyond the friction point of the tires at your desire so if you are experienced and have the feel of your car's abilities you can get better pull with it off.
You can't accelerate nearly as quickly with traction control on. If you try to accelerate quickly, the TC will detect the slippage, and seriously bog down your start. I leave it on for normal driving, but always take it off if I’m at the dragstrip or anywhere else where I want to accelerate at full throttle.
That's cool, thanks for all the replies. Definitely need to try that out the next time I take it out (obeying all speed limits of course). I've always driven it with it on, but I think it's so cool to have a car that can do that. Very cool.
I seem to remember that Competition Mode leaves AH engaged but disengages TCS.
Exactly.
This is the mode I would recommend you run in on the street if you want no traction control. The AH will help prevent (but can't guarantee) loss of control should you break the rear tires loose while accelerating hard.
