I still prefer a direct connection versus RF for audio quality, but I commend you on the cleanliness of that installation. Very elegant.
When used with a COR-HAR wiring harness and GM10-AUX adaptor, the Harman-Kardon unit provides a direct aux input to your HU. It could use an FM connection also, but I agree that the direct connection is preferred.
I had seen photos of D2Brewing's installation in another thread some time back. I was hooked, so I "copied" it. I just finished the installation yesterday and took the wife out for a cruise with the roof section off and the tunes blasting (it was around 80 here in Central Texas). I love the sound of the direct connection and the H-K unit is functioning flawlessly.
D2Brewing's photos prompted me to go for this one. The H-K unit did not receive unanimous support in the General Audio sub-forum, but I am certainly happy with mine so far. (Plus I found a sale on the unit at Best Buy a few weeks ago and got it for $70 off.)

Thank you for educating me. Up until now, I thought that the HK only operated via RF signal only. In that case, I am doubly impressed with your setup. It's ideal. The only thing that would keep me from following suit is that I saw a HK on display once and the little trackball controller thing was sort of busted and I thought "Hmmmm. Not good." But like with most things, if they are treated with reasonable care, I'm sure they work great. Again, thanks for correcting a misperception I've had about the HK unit all this time. And congrats again on an ultra clean installation.
I hard wired it. Had no desire to go the RF route. It's a little more, but worth it. I never liked the idea of the iPod sitting somewhere on the dash, and the iPod2Car connection through the head unit makes the iPod useful only as a jukebox - unless you remember the album/track numbers for 10,000 songs, you can't really play what you want.
The display and the controller are actually quite nice - pretty solid when installed (and not trashed from being on display in the store).

Did the display head fit into the ashtray area or did you have to modify it. Also, is the control unit in the Cup holder permanent or just sitting there? Excellent set up, I'm minutes away from ordering it too. Also, was is difficult to hard wire? Can you still use your regular radio?
Thanks ...Rocket

If you pull the ashtray out, the display fits perfectly. The controller is screwed into the cup holder, so it is solid. If you don't have a 12 disk CD, you need the COR-HAR and the GMAUX-10. The stereo works normally.
Just so I am not getting confused, Does the "Harman Kardon Drive + Play" Plug into the factory unit if you have a cd player with no major modifications or you are using the FM signal option
